Feeling campy...

During college I spent 3 summers working as a couselor at Camp Bethel in Wise, VA (town slogan: "Even uther suth'ners cain't undurstand us!"). Despite the extreme strangeness of the town, I had some of the best times of my life there. So when I got a letter from then saying they were looking for volunteers to work at camp this summer, I started to think about the possibility.

Now, I am not crazy. I know I am not 20 anymore, and I have no desire to give up my whole summer. But I think I can give up a week for a good cause, so I called. I guessed they would call me back sometime this week. Little did I know I warranted a call on Sunday night.

Now, one short phone call later, I am officially a member of the summer staff! I am going to be leading worship music for the second week of camp. It will be an experience, leading worship for 8-12 year olds. I get to learn new software too, they use a program called Mediashout, which looks interesting.

Who knows, maybe this will turn into an annual event. I can't think of a better way to spend a week.

That's so great - you're goin' to camp! It's great and yet delightfully entertaining - can't wait to hear the stories. And can I say I really LOL'd at the town slogan.

ooh, mediashout - you'll love it! it's really easy. :) I help with the kids' music at my church and it's way more fun than leading adults! hop over to my friend anne's blog (http://annesasylum.blogspot.com/) and ask her about music...she leads all the music and puts it together and she's a wealth of information. congrats, erin! this will be super fun for you!!

I loved the summer that I spent working at a camp. One week is the perfect amount of time-not long to get sick of the heat and the kids! :) Have a great time!
