Stuff

Thank you so much to everyone who commented on my last post. It is good to know I am not alone in my feelings and fears about the weight phobia that is slowly evolving into a Salem-style witch hunt. Since I am currently directing The Crucible, that idea is on my mind a lot lately.

Speaking of The Crucible, with the exception of all the casting drama, so far it has been a really good experience. We've had a couple if schedule snafus, because of illness (mine) or weather (today), but other than that the schedule has gone well, and we are blocking scenes successfully. I seem to have figured out my set, and the drama teacher has offered to do all my costumes and help with lighting. May God bless her eternally. I hate dealing with technical stuff, mostly since I suck at it. I am so happy not to have to deal with those two aspects so I can focus on actual directing.

I have recently discovered two wonderful new experiences -- Pray as you go and Peter Kreeft. Both are available as podcasts, which works out well for those of us who like convenience. Pray as you go is a daily devotional in the Ignatian/ Jesuit tradition produced by Jesuit Media Initiatives. It is a combination of really amazing music, daily scripture readings, and guided meditation. Since I already think too much, it is a good fit for me to work through devotionals that are essentially guided thinking exercises. Peter Kreeft is a philosopher and apologist who speaks on lots of Christian issues in the style of C.S. Lewis, and actually speaks on Lewis quite a bit. His theology is some of the most moving and thought-provoking I have ever encountered.

There's my random update of the day -- I am home because of ice, so I am off to try and get some packing done. Yay for ice!

Erin, I tried to post a comment yesterday but it wouldn't stick. Thanks for your last post - I get really tired of other people's inability to deal with the fact that I am fat. Oy. Anyway, I really appreciate that last post.
