I haven't written anything in a while, mostly because my life is, well, it's boring. I have not really had anything to write about. In the spirit of keeping the blog alive, however, here's a little update on me...
The play is going really well. We are in blocking rehearsals right now, and working on a bit of characterization when we are not blocking. I am astounded every day at how talented my kids are. The play does take up a LOT of time though, so I have basically had to ditch everything else, which makes me a little sad.
Also on the subject of school, I got my 5 year renewable license in the mail yesterday. No more probationary license for me. I did a little dance in the living room when I opened the envelope. I knew I had finished all of the requirements, but there is still a lot of satisfaction in seeing the piece of paper, and in knowing that I can stay employed after this year. The other good news -- I am already more than half way done with the requirements to renew the license in five years. You have to have 180 points, 90 of them from a graduate level class. I already have the grad class, plus 35 points for a technology class I took this year, plus quite a few from other little things this year. It makes me laugh that I was almost ready to renew my license before I even had it.
Also on the subject of school, I am enjoying one of the many perks of working for Campbell county today -- the there's no actual snow snow day. Ok, so maybe there is little snow, but not even enough to cover the grass. Either way, it is 11:00 in the morning and I am in my bathrobe, so it is a happy day in Erin land. The only cloud in my bright blue sky is my heat, or more specifically, my lack thereof. My lovely heat pump (circa 1963) has broken yet again, and until the repair people come I am wearing 3 layers and a ski cap in my house. It's my own little Day After Tomorrow experience, except I refuse to burn my books.
The most fabulous thing about the snow day is that I actually get to use the gym membership I pay for but never have time to use. Since I am at school until 6:30 every day and my gym closes at 7, no Curves for me most days. Instead I have been using the weight room at school after rehearsals, which I actually think I like better. 45 minutes in a room alone with my ipod. Good times.

okay, erin, so your life is SO NOT BORING!! you're blog entry is my wish list: a renewable 5-year teaching license (and a teaching job), teaching kids theater, and sitting at home in pjs for a snow day!! ah...i'm so jealous right now!!
enjoy your day. miss you!
Yay for Curves - hey weren't you thinking of joining the Y? This summer Kelly and I will be there - you should join us!
Hope the play-stuff continues to go well - miss ya, can't wait to hang out saturday!!
OK, So I know you will not think so but I, for one, (probably the ONLY one) believe that at least some tiny protion of your inate capability at coaching drama comes from the vast experience you had as a child and teenager at vocal performance. All those Church musicals and Ensemble productions and choir performances taught you a lot about communicating through music. And let's not forget the years of experience as apart of the worship team. And I think there are some common threads between that art and drama. The successfull drama comes across with an elemant of believablity, just as every peice of music presented must be "sold" to the audience.
Just my thoughts...I do have a somewhat unique perspective on your development...
erin - i heard about the use of your sixth sense last week with joy! you have an amazing gift! :)
Hi Erin, I have to agree with Heather, your life doesn't sound boring at all! I hope you had a great snow day~ Miss you!
