The cursedness of Labor day

Before I begin, I would like to send a shout out to Kelly for having an even worse weekend than mine, and writing about it first.

I am convinced that Labor day is cursed. Every year, for as long as I can remember, bad stuff has happened on Labor day. Not just bad stuff, but really weird bad stuff. This weekend was no exception.

Last Thursday I got home and found a cable lying in my driveway, with one end attached to the house and the other end attached to...nothing. It's a little disturbing to discover a severed cable in the driveway, but I figured it was either phone, cable, or electric. I threw up a little frantic prayer that it was ohone, since I don't use the house phone line, and went in the house. It's easy enough to tell if my power is out, I have enough electronics in my living room that I can do a quick scan of all the on lights to see if they are dark -- and they were all lit up. My relief was pretty significant, nothing sucks more than the power being out. Then I turned my TV on to the ever-lovely sound of static. Yes, indeed, it was the cable line. No cable, no internet. I called Adelphia and they said they would send someone to fix it Friday. So off I went to school on Friday, confident that I would have internet back over the long weekend. I really wanted to relax over the weekend, and for an internet junkie like myself, having web access is pretty integral in relaxing.
I got home Friday and found the cable still lying in my driveway.
I called Adelphia again, and they told me they would be sending someone Tuesday. After some deep breaths, I realized that flexibility is an important skill, and decided to go rent the entire fifth season of Angel and have a marathon.

A whole weekend of James Marsters and David Boreanaz. Mmmmmmmm....

Ok, I'm back.

Back to Friday. It had been raining all day, and when I went into my laundry room I very quickly realized that the rain had decided to invade my house. Flooding is never fun.

Then came the ants. I have no idea if they are related to the flood, but they came in droves, big black vermin. Ugh. I HATE ants.

Yesterday I went home all excited to have my cable and internet back and....it was still in the driveway. I called Adephia again, and they are supposed to come fix it on Friday. Sigh. The curse has struck again.

ok i just wanted to add my 2 cents that is that yes the ants are most likely a result of all the rain. When it rained here last week i found ants all in my daughters room and wouldn't you know it all on her bed and dolls! Ack! What a pain I loath bugs.
